Examines the Battle of Second Manassas in the form of a tour going to twelve locations important to aspects of this fierce Civil War contest between the Union forces commanded by Major General John Pope and the Confederate Army of Northern Virginia led by General Robert E. Lee which took place on 29 and 30 August 1862. Stops on the tour have been selected to help the visitor see the battle, which was characterized by complex maneuvers and fighting over the same areas at several different times. The courage of the men on both sides was exemplary, and the lessons in leadership, command, the use of intelligence, and the performance of soldiers under stress shown by this battle have a lasting value.
