eReader is an application used to read eReader (or files with the extension .pdb) eBooks on your Palm OS, Pocket PC, Windows, Symbian, Windows Mobile Smartphone or Mac. Without eReader, you will not be able to read eReader eBooks, and other eBook Readers will not work with eReader.com eBooks. eReader.com eBooks are encrypted to protect the authors' work. In addition, the eReader can display styled text (italicized, underlined, etc.) and formatting as well as perform functions not found on other eBook readers. There is no charge to download and use eReader. We never sell or distribute any personal information about our customers or visitors. We feel very strongly about privacy issues. Your personal information is stored securely and used for purchasing purposes only. Click here to open an account. The directions will walk you through the process. Throughout the site, you can select the link at the top of the page called "Account" (right by the shopping cart on top). Once you are signed inb you can use this link to access your account. To sign in as a Returning Customer, use the email address and password you used when you first created the account. Or, if you had made updates to the original values, then use the newer values instead. You can sign in from any computer, e.g., from home or from work. Just remember to use the email address and password from your eReader.com account; you don't have to use the email address assigned to the computer you are using. Credit Card Questions
To make a purchase with a different credit card number, you first need to log into your account, edit your credit card information and then save the changes. Afterwards, you can continue your eBook shopping and purchasing with your new credit card number. Once a card is in our system, it cannot be modified for security and integrity purposes. Any changes will require you to create a new card, even if it has the same number. No, only your credit card number along with your cardholder name (as it appears on your credit card) will unlock your eBook in your handheld. This is done to protect the publisher's copyright. Your credit card number is not stored on the device and is only used to unlock your eBook. No. Your credit card number is used only to unlock the eBook and is not stored on your handheld. There are two possible scenarios that can cause this error message: When you created your account, you may have entered your name, credit card number, credit card type and/or expiration date incorrectly in the credit card field. If either is not exactly entered as it appears on your card, your transaction will be rejected. To ensure your information was entered accurately, log into your account and verify all of your credit card information. Then try to repeat your purchase. If you continue to get the same error message, you may need to contact your card issuing bank. Some international credit cards cannot be processed, in which case you may need to inquire with your card-issuing bank. One-time-use credit cards are currently not accepted. All eBook sales are final. Extreme situations will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Your Wish List is a great way to earmark the books that you would like to purchae in the near future. Simply click on the "Wish List" on the product page of the book you desire. This information will automatically be stored in your account. You can also add comments and remove the title as well. We add several hundred titles to our store every month and usually release the titles on the same day as the print pub date. To see our latest titles, go to the New Release section which is updated daily. Our eBooks are typically priced less than or equal to the list price of their paper counterparts. Our eBook prices are also less than online prices of their paper counterparts, when you consider shipping costs. We "buy" books from the publisher, just like your local bookstore does, and we add to that the cost of developing our technology and running our web site. The only cost to you is the purchase price of your eBook. Once purchased, you can download your eBook as often as needed at no charge. There is no charge for using the free eReader software.

A doc file is a type of handheld file that ends in either .pdb or .prc. These text files have been specifically packaged for use on a handheld. Doc format is pretty much a standard for HANDHELD documents, and the latest version of the eReader can view them. Yes, as long as you have enough memory on your handheld to hold all your eBooks in the eReader. What can reduce the speed and performance of the eReader? We've had a few reports of eReader being slow on some machines. In those cases, the slowness was due to the presence of certain HackMaster software. The most common of these was "TealEcho" which, like a lot of similar software, is always running in the background and can seriously degrade the performance of the entire machine. Removing this should dramatically speed up eReader. Older versions of the Reader may experience difficulty with memory allocation in some circumstances, usually on older hardware. One workaround is to perform a reset in order to defragment the dynamic memory heap. Another is to disable any hacks that may be using dynamic memory. Note that this dynamic memory is not the same as that used to store applications, books and other data, so you may have a lot of "free memory" showing in the Launcher but still encounter memory problems when trying to run the Reader. Installing the fonts and dictionary for your new eReader Pro is as easy as installing a book. In fact, installing a dictionary is exactly like installing a book and installing fonts just adds a few extra steps to the process. The Agfa Monotype Font Pack for eReader Pro is downloaded as a standard Zip file. Make sure that you note which directory you save the Zip file to and then follow these simple instructions: Important Note: For most users, the 9 and 12 point sizes are sufficient for normal usage. You may want to install the 18 point size if you use the Large system font frequently. Clie and HandEra users will probably want to install the 18 and the 24 point fonts instead of the smaller sizes. Because of the increased resolution of these devices, the 18 point fonts will produce the same results that a 9 point font will on other handhelds and the 24 point fonts will be equal to a 12 point font.

A few helpful tips: When you purchase an eBook, it is downloaded as a .zip file along with the eReader. When you download a previously purchased eBook from your account, it is downloaded as a .pdb file. You cannot open and/or read an eReader.com eBook on your desktop or laptop PC. You cannot read a eReader.com eBook on your handheld without the use of the eReader. Throughout the site, you can select the link in the upper right-hand corner: Sign in To sign in as a Returning Customer, use the email address and password you used when you first created the account. Or, if you had made updates to the original values, then use the newer values instead. You can sign in from any computer, e.g., from home or from work. Just remember to use the email address and password from your eReader.com account. (NOTE: The following explanation assumes that you already have an existing eReader.com Account. Receiving a newsletter from us does not necessarily indicate that you have an account.) The password or email address that is on your account is different than what you're using to sign in. If your email address has changed since you originally created Your Account (because of moving, changing jobs, etc.), your eReader.com account still has your old email address. Even if you are no longer using the old email address, you still need to use it to sign in to your account at eReader.com. After you sign in to Your Account, you should check, and update if necessary, important details: email address, password, credit card number and expiration date, telephone number, etc. If you continue to have problems accessing your account, please try the password help web form. In case you forget your password we can give you a hint or reset your password, provided that you chose to take advantage of these features when you created your account. You can update your unlock code in your personal Bookshelf. Select the option to "RESET... Unlock Code to current credit card number." Then re-download and install the eBook, unlocking with the handheld information. NOTE: You must have made a purchase with the current credit number for the unlock code update to take effect. The first is to buy more books with your new credit card. Once you have made a purchase with a new credit card, you can log in to your account and reset the unlock code on your previous purchases to be the new credit card, then download the books again. In this case, a new purchase is required to verify the new credit card number. Your second choice, if you do not wish to purchase additional books at this time, is to reply to this message with a phone number and time of day when it will be convenient for us to call you and provide you with the old number over the phone. For security reasons, we cannot send credit card numbers through email.

I have subscribed to your newsletter but I am still not receiving the discounted newsletter price. How do I get my discount?
To receive the discount price you need to enter the promo code found at the bottom of the newsletter into the promo field. The location of the promo code field is found in the upper right hand corner on the screen that is displayed after you have added a book to your bookcart. If you have any trouble finding this field let me know. I am trying to install/hot sync my eBooks. I receive the message that the files do not exist? I purchased the eBook. What is wrong?
This error relates to a bug with the Palm install/hotsync software. If the path or directory of the file you are trying to install is too long the install software will not be able to find the file. The solution is to unzip or move the files directly to your desktop or into a folder with a shorter path such as c:\temp. This will keep the path length smaller, and allow the Palm Install software to "see" the files. You may also want to download and install the latest Palm hotsync software. No, eBooks on eReader.com are not printable. At the present time, only Windows Mobile users can download eBooks directly to their devices. To learn more about this, click here. We are working hard to bring the same advancements to the other devices. However, currently you need a computer to download the files and sync them to your device. If I change devices from a Palm OS handheld to a Pocket PC / Windows Mobile Smartphone handheld or vice versa, do I need to re-purchase my eBooks?
No, our eBooks are formatted as .pdb files and they work on both Palm OS handhelds and Pocket PC / Windows Mobile Smartphone devices. No, you can download your eBooks from your account as often as needed. For more information about downloading your eBooks from your account, go to Accessing, Downloading, and Unzipping. Searching through the text of every book loaded on your handheld would take a long time. Global Find will find text in any annotations or bookmarks you've made. For finding text, use the Find command in the eReader. Soon, we hope. We are working with many publishers to bring their books to press. To request a title, please contact us and select "title requests", or send your request directly to eReader.com. Please note that we receive dozens of requests every day and will not be able to answer every customer's e-mail. However, we are keeping a list of every single title request and communicate these preferences to the publisher directly. Yes, upgrades are available to you free of charge. It's a good idea to upgrade your version since many eBooks will only work on the latest version. We require that eReader Pro must be purchased for each platform that is used on. We did this to defray the cost of the Reader on each individual platform. For example, instead of charging $80 for a eReader Pro that runs on Palm OS, Pocket PC, Mac, and PC, we decided to charge $20 for each copy since most people only want to use the Reader on one platform. When you use your credit card to purchase from eReader.com, the credit card company automatically converts the charge into US currency. A wireless handheld version of ithe eReader client is now available for Windows Mobile users. Click here to go to download the newest version of eReader Pro to take advantage of the ability to browse, purchase, and download eBooks directrly from your device. We are looking into this possibility for other devices. I was wondering how long it takes for a book that was previously released in hardback to reflect a price change once it is released in paperback?
Generally, the publishers do tell us when a book is scheduled to be downpriced. Obviously we try to downprice the books as soon as we can but with over 14,000 titles, some books do slip through the cracks. Plus we need the publisher's permission before we can downprice on the site. We are currently working to implementing a Coming Soon section to eReader.com. Stay tuned. We do try our hardest to get these titles to our customers on pub date. In some cases, publishers do not intend the eBook to be released as the same date of as the print version. REGISTER PRO VERSION EREADER You need to register eReader Pro.
PALM You need to register eReader Pro.
POCKET PC You need to register eReader Pro (PPC).
