Hot headed, top graduate of an Allied experimental training program, Captain Kimberly Thomson strives to prove women's worth as pilots in the U.S. Army Air Corps of 1942, Britain. The women succeed beyond all expectations, but after all the hard work Kim and her comrades are returned to their former positions as secretaries and aides. Kim goes to the 816th Heavy Bomb Group--the commanding officer--Brigadier General Mark Lansing, recently nearly blinded during a London air raid. Do they have a chance to find a moment's peace in this dark time? Can they stop fighting their commitment to duty and the need to put maximum effort over their assigned targets in Germany long enough to discover each other? And what will Mark do about that blasted British Flyer who can't seem to keep his hands of Kim? Even more importantly, certainly Kim's stubbornness will not put them both into danger, where her knowledge of flight will be needed to save both their lives, will it?
