Vampires are among us? Julian Frost is alone. Having lost his parents to murder, and his sister to a car accident, he finds himself frequenting a late night coffee shop in hopes of treating his insomnia. It is not until he discovers a mysterious woman who watches him every night that he begins to feel intrigue. He soon discovers that he is in the presence of a vampire. He falls in love with her as he learns the truth about her dark secrets, including the constant fear of being found by a fierce vampire hunter. It is now up to Julian to decide whether or not he will leave mortality behind and suffer the fate of eternal damnation to be with his new found love, face the vampire hunter, and take the revenge on his parents' murderer he so longs for. Excerpt: "So what do you know about vampires Julian?" Xavier asks me. "Just the usual things, what I have read and seen on television." I say. "Is that so? While some things you have seen may be true, others are simply fiction. For example, popular culture tells you that some of us can go into the sunlight. If we were to go into the sunlight we would turn to ash. When it comes to minor injuries we can heal ourselves, but if our hearts are severely punctured we will die, that part is true. Popular culture and belief tells you that a vampire is a glamorous thing or something that is cool as younger people would say. I say different. When you become a vampire you die. You lose your soul and are destined to suffer damnation." Xavier explains. "There is nothing glamorous about our lifestyle. There is nothing cool about what we are. To them we exist only in story books and on film. If only these humans knew that they could be potential food for us immortals they would think differently." He continues. I know how he feels. Xavier sees the human race as I do, weak and powerless. "Tell me Julian, how you feel about our existence?" He asked. "Until tonight I was not one hundred percent sure vampires existed. Now that I know it does not change my outlook on life at all. Violet told me you can read minds like she can. Read mine Xavier. You will see the hurt and the anguish I have been through. I have nothing left alive to be thankful for." I cry out. Xavier pauses for a moment and everything becomes silent except for the crackle of the fire.
