Bio: Carla started writing at a young age. In good weather, She'd climb a tree with paper and pen. In lousy weather, she'd hide in hercloset. One day, her sisters caught her, grabbed her manuscript, sat on her and read it out loud…then urged her to finish it! She knew she wanted to be a writer, but she also loved music and took up French horn. She was admitted to the Boston University School of Fine Arts and took lessons from members of the Boston Symphony Orchestra--it was a great experience, but not where she was meant to be. She ended up graduating magna cum laude with a degree in journalism. After college, she worked as a freelance journalist and kept writing fiction. Finally, the summer her first child was born, she submitted a novel to an agent in New York, who called to tell her she loved it and wanted to represent Carla. She still remembers that call. (She was baking Cornish hens!) The book sold, and she's been writing ever since. Now she owns a house on top of a hill in Vermont, with a view of Mt. Cardigan to the east in New Hampshire. She's an early riser, and sunrises there are spectacular. She and her husband like to travel, visiting family and friends all over the US and in Europe. Her husband's an umpteenth-generation Tennesseean--his great-great-something-grandfather came through the Cumberland Gap with Daniel Boone, and his parents still live outside Nashville, so it's a favorite spot for them to visit. Besides writing, Carla enjoys hiking, kayaking and cross-country skiing--and she just took up golf! A year ago, she didn't even know what par was. Now she knows, but it doesn't do her any good! And, of course, she loves to read. My "TBR" pile is always toppling over, which is just the way I like it.
