Jessica Palmer

Bio: As an author, Jessica Palmer has written professionally since 1978. She has 10 novels, 3 novellas, and 12 textbooks to her credit. In England, she has had 6 sf and fantasy novels published by Scholastic Books while in the US she had another 4 novels published by Simon and Schuster's Pocket Books. All totaled, her novels have been distributed in every English-speaking country in the world and translated into Norwegian, Russian and Romanian. Her novellas were released exclusively in Holland. Her short stories have appeared in magazines and anthologies on both sides of the Atlantic. Meanwhile her nonfiction has been published globally. She was nominated for the Bram Stoker Award for best first novel 1988; listed in WHO'S WHO of American Women, 1999 Starburst Magazines' SF Top 200 and Germany's Horror Lexicon published in 2001. As a journalist, she has written for UPI and AP (internationally), Kansas City Star, Wichita Eagle Beacon, Salina Journal, McPherson Sentinel and the Pasadena Citizen and the Brazosport Facts in Texas. As a lecturer in Britain, Palmer taught classes all across England, including the Islington Arts Factory in London; at North Shropshire College and Stanmore College. She has given talks in Harrow, to students in Cambridge and Manchester. Her latest release was ANIMAL WISDOM, A DEFINATIVE GUIDE TO THE LEGENDS, MYTHOLOGY AND MEDICINE POWER OF ANIMALS. Later she completed a series of lectures on Native American studies in London, Harrow, Cambridge and Oxford that culminated when she was featured on the BBC television program, Heaven and Earth (November 22, 1998). Since her return to the US, she has given further talks Las Cruces and Sante Fe, New Mexico (April 14, 2002 and April 21, 2003), and in Boulder, Colorado Springs and Denver, Colorado. Recently Palmer moved to Kansas to found "Wild-in-Wooly," a wildlife rehabilitation center where she takes care of sick and wounded animals, including deer, raccoon, hawks and owls to name only a few. She acts as tour guide at the Maxwell Wildlife and Buffalo Refuge. Kansas. In July 2005, she was contracted by McFarland Books to complete a comprehensive history of the Lakota/Dakota peoples.
