As you may be aware, Barnes & Noble, Inc. has announced the acquisition of Fictionwise, Inc., including the Fictionwise.com and eReader.com eBook retail websites. For more information, please review the FAQs on this page. Here is the official press release. Question: Will the Fictionwise.com and eReader.com websites remain open? Answer: Yes! Fictionwise.com, eReader.com, eBookwise.com and all the other sites run by Fictionwise will continue to run as eBook retail websites. Question: How will Barnes & Noble’s acquisition of Fictionwise, Inc. affect the Fictionwise.com and eReader.com websites? Answer: The acquisition is very good news for eBook customers at both websites. Customers can expect to see more eBook content than ever before. It also means that additional resources will be available to improve the websites and continue the expansion of the eReader format onto more platforms. Question: What roles will Steve and Scott Pendergrast, the founders of Fictionwise, Inc., have with Barnes & Noble? Answer: Steve and Scott will continue run the Fictionwise websites as a separate business unit within Barnes & Noble. Question: Why was Fictionwise sold at this time? Answer: With the eBook market expanding rapidly, Steve and Scott were looking for the right partner with a shared vision on the future of the industry.
